PSG and Atletico Reach Champions League Semifinals

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —Paris Saint-Germain secured a place in the UEFA Champions League semifinals after defeating Liverpool 2-0 in the second leg of their quarterfinal tie.

The match was played in England, with Ousmane Dembele playing a decisive role by scoring twice in the 72nd minute and in stoppage time. Goalkeeper Matvey Safonov also made a significant contribution, saving five shots and keeping a clean sheet. PSG had earlier won the first leg in Paris by the same 2-0 scoreline, allowing the team coached by Luis Enrique to progress comfortably to the next stage. In the semifinals, the French side will face the winner of the tie between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.

In another quarterfinal, Atletico Madrid lost 2-1 to Barcelona in the second leg but advanced to the semifinals on aggregate.

For Barcelona, Lamine Yamal scored in the 4th minute, followed by a goal from Ferran Torres in the 24th. Ademola Lookman netted Atletico’s only goal in the 31st minute.

Barcelona were reduced to ten men in the 79th minute after Eric Garcia received a straight red card. Despite the defeat, Atletico progressed thanks to a 2-0 victory in the first leg in Barcelona.

In the semifinals, the team led by Diego Simeone will face the winner of the tie between Arsenal and Sporting CP.
