President of Uzbekistan launched the largest energy projects

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 27 November, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the launch of key projects in the energy sector.

One of them was the connection to the network of a modern combined cycle power plant with a capacity of 1,500 megawatts in the Syrdarya region. This project, with a total cost of US$1.1 billion, is intended to provide electricity to more than 3 million households and many industrial enterprises.

The second important event was the start of construction of a pilot production of “green hydrogen” in the Tashkent region, carried out in cooperation with the leading Saudi company ACWA Power. The project envisages the production of 3 thousand tons of hydrogen, which will then be used to create mineral fertilizers. It is also planned to create a wind farm with a capacity of 52 megawatts.

These initiatives are aimed at developing renewable energy in Uzbekistan, which will eventually create 25 gigawatts of renewable energy by 2030. This also helps save 4.5 billion cubic meters of gas and reduce emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere by 3 million tons.

In general, large energy projects worth US$7.5 billion are being successfully implemented in Uzbekistan with the participation of ACWA Power.
