First Group of Andijan Migrant Workers Arrives in Belarus

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The first organized group of labor migrants from the Andijan Region has arrived in Belarus for temporary employment in agriculture and animal husbandry. The group consists of 255 residents of the region.

The program is being implemented under a trilateral agreement between the Hokimiyat of the Andijan Region, the Agency for External Labor Migration of Uzbekistan, and the Committee on Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee of Belarus.

According to the Migration Agency, a simplified employment procedure has been established for project participants, making it possible to expedite the processing of necessary documents and the organized departure for work.

The Uzbek citizens were met at the Vitebsk airport by representatives of local authorities and an official delegation from Uzbekistan led by the Hokim of the Andijan Region, Shuxratbek Abdurakhmanov.

According to the agency, all participants in the program are guaranteed official employment, a decent wage, and the necessary living conditions.

The implementation of the project is expected to expand employment opportunities for citizens of Uzbekistan abroad, as well as contribute to the development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Belarus in the field of organized labor migration.

The legal framework for such projects was established during the state visit of the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to Belarus, when the parties signed an agreement on the organized recruitment of Uzbek citizens for temporary work in Belarus.

At that time, the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, noting the country's labor shortage, invited citizens of Uzbekistan to come to work, including with their family members.
