President of Kazakhstan announces his resignation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, in his address to the people on national television channels, announced about his resignation.

“I made a decision to terminate my powers as president,” said Nursultan Nazarbayev.

The Chairman of the Senate, Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev, will temporarily fulfill the duties of the President of Kazakhstan.

At the same time, Nursultan Nazarbayev will head the Security Council of Kazakhstan.
