Uzbekneftegaz Accelerates Well Launches and Repairs
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — JSC Uzbekneftegaz is stepping up efforts to increase natural gas production by accelerating the commissioning of new wells, capital repairs, and accident prevention across production facilities, according to JSC Uzbekneftegaz. The measures were discussed during a working meeting chaired by Chairman of the Board Abdugani Sanginov, which reviewed drilling progress, compressor stations, power supply, geological exploration, and production infrastructure.
Between 1 and 24 August 2026, company leadership reviewed the status of 11 wells. Drilling was completed at eight sites, seven of which have already been brought online, generating an additional 1.7 million cubic meters of gas per day. However, industrial gas flow was not obtained at one well, while the launch of another was postponed to early September. Responsible officials were instructed to complete drilling operations on three remaining wells within set deadlines.
In capital well repairs, industrial gas flow was achieved at all eight sites scheduled for launch between 1 and 24 August 2026. The actual additional production volume reached 310,000 cubic meters per day, exceeding the planned target of 235,000 cubic meters. For the period from 21 to 31 August 2026, the company aims to commission 11 more repaired wells to secure an additional 340,000 cubic meters of gas daily.
Sanginov stressed the need to synchronize well commissioning with infrastructure readiness, including pipelines, technological equipment, compressor stations, and power supply systems. While the Gazli and Shurtan oil and gas production departments reported virtually no emergency shutdowns in August following equipment maintenance, accidents at other divisions led to production drops in natural gas, gas condensate, and liquefied gas. Management instructed regional divisions to focus on accident prevention, significantly reduce technical failures next month, and complete all preventive maintenance before cold weather sets in.
