Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - According to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, there are more than 7,300 enterprises of various ownership forms in the textile industry (enterprises with 100% foreign capital, joint ventures, private, etc.), of which 1,128 are textile-oriented production, 4560 - for the production of sewing and knitwear, others - 1651.
According to the results of the work of enterprises in the textile and sewing and knitting industries in 2019, they produced 36.6 trillion soums worth of marketable products with a growth rate of 28% (estimated), which amounted to 12% in the total industrial production of the country.
In physical terms, production was provided according to the main product range, including: cotton yarn –637.5 thousand tons (growth rate 124.3%), finished fabrics - 548.6 million sq. M (growth rate 112.0% ), knitted fabric - 174.8% (growth rate of 174%), knitwear 959.4 million pieces (growth rate 130.6%), hosiery - 304.3 million pieces (growth rate 109.9 %), garments - 364.1 million pieces (growth rate of 115.0%).
As part of the government decisions adopted to support the activities of cotton-textile clusters, in 2019, projects were implemented to create 75 clusters on an area of 647.4 thousand hectares in 88 areas (63% of the acreage allocated for cotton), 12 thousand units of modern agricultural machines of well-known world and domestic manufacturers such as John Deere, Case New Holland, MTZ, TTZ and others were purchased. For the first time in Uzbekistan, IP TEXTILE TECHNOLOGIES GROUP LLC, in the Tashkent region, mastered the production of organic cotton.
As part of the implementation of the State program "Year of Active Investment and Social Development", 37 projects were implemented and US$449.7 million were spent on the investment program (due to direct foreign investments - US$296 million).
Own funds of the project initiators was US$37.5 million, US$98.7 million - loans and US$26.7 million– loans of the Foundation for Development and Reconstruction of Uzbekistan.
In addition, 91 investment projects were implemented in the total amount of US$814.4 million. Due to the implementation of projects, additional production capacities were created for the production of yarn -157.3 thousand tons, knitted fabric - 41 thousand tons, fabrics - 115 million .sq.m. and sewing and knitwear - 80 million units
In solving the problems of increasing employment and sustainable growth of incomes, a priority role is given to the implementation of the State program for creating new jobs. Over the past period, through the creation of new industries, an additional 17.5 thousand new jobs were created.
Thanks to the introduction of high-performance modern technologies in the industry, export of products increased and by the end of 2019 made up over US$2.2 billion dollars. The geography of exports is expanding on an ongoing basis. New sales markets have been developed: the USA, El Salvador, the Philippines, Morocco, Croatia, Israel, Kenya, Canada, Colombia and others. Today, textile products are exported to more than 55 countries.
