Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan has adopted a law “On Protecting the Population from the Harmful Effects of Noise,” establishing permissible noise levels and time restrictions on activities that disturb public peace and normal rest, the press service of the Ministry of Justice said.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the law on 9 September.
Under the law, on working days, creating noise above the established permissible level will be prohibited from 23:00 to 07:00. On weekends and non-working public holidays, the restriction will apply from 22:00 to 09:00.
The new requirements apply, in particular, to noise generated by household and economic activities in residential buildings, construction work, and the use of machinery and vehicles.
A noise level is considered permissible if it does not cause significant distress to a person or lead to serious changes in the functioning of the body’s systems and noise-sensitive organs, and is determined in accordance with sanitary rules and regulations.
Compliance with the requirements will be monitored by the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health under the Ministry of Health.
In cases where noise exposure causes harm, citizens will be able to seek compensation through the courts.
The law will enter into force three months after its official publication, on 11 December 2026.
