Namangan water facility doubles capacity to 180,000 cubic meters
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Zhyidakapa water intake and supply facility in Namangan region’s Uychi district has been commissioned after a complete reconstruction, with its water intake and supply capacity increased nearly twofold to 180,000 cubic meters per day. The Namangan regional administration’s press service said.
The opening ceremony was held ahead of Uzbekistan’s 35th anniversary of state independence. The event was attended by Namangan Region Governor Shavkatjon Abdurazzakov, O‘zsuvta’minot JSC Deputy Chairman of the Board Komilbek Yusupov, industry representatives, elders and members of the public.
The facility was reconstructed using modern technologies as part of a project implemented with the participation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). As a result, its previous capacity of 90,000–100,000 cubic meters of water per day was increased to about 180,000 cubic meters.
Energy-efficient motors and pumps were installed at the facility. A digital SCADA control and monitoring system was also introduced, enabling the facility’s operations to be monitored using modern technological solutions.
Zhyidakapa plays an important role in Namangan’s drinking water supply system. The facility supplies water to approximately 60–65% of the city’s population. The reconstruction was therefore aimed not only at increasing its capacity but also at improving the stability of drinking water supplies in Namangan.
During the ceremony, industry representatives and elders symbolically opened the reconstructed facility. Participants were also briefed on its technical capabilities, operations and the principles of the newly introduced SCADA system.
Speaking at the event, Namangan Region Governor Shavkatjon Abdurazzakov highlighted the attention being given to developing the region’s infrastructure and improving access to drinking water. He also spoke about work underway in the region in light of the new opportunities being created and the funds allocated.
Following the completion of the reconstruction, the Zhyidakapa water intake and supply facility resumed operations with its upgraded technical capabilities.
