India-Central Asia summit to be held in 2027

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The next India-Central Asia summit will be held in India in 2027, Sibi George, Secretary (West) at India’s Ministry of External Affairs, said at a press briefing following the Indian prime minister’s state visit to Uzbekistan.

According to George, the decision was announced by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The diplomat said India expected to continue working with its Central Asian partners to strengthen cooperation and take the partnership to a new level, describing Uzbekistan as a very important partner for India in this effort.

George emphasized that the prime minister’s visit to Uzbekistan had given new momentum to bilateral relations. According to him, elevating relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership, together with concrete results in education, trade and commerce, culture, traditional medicine, the environment and people-to-people contacts, provides a solid foundation for further developing bilateral cooperation.

The first India-Central Asia summit was held online in January 2022, with the President of Uzbekistan participating.
