Bakhtiyor Inokov appointed Surkhandarya police chief

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Lieutenant Colonel Bakhtiyor Rakhimjonovich Inokov has been appointed head of the Internal Affairs Department of Surkhandarya region, Uzbekistan’s Interior Ministry press service said.

In his new position, Inokov has been tasked with improving the effectiveness of crime prevention and ensuring security in every mahalla.

The new regional police chief has also been instructed to establish closer cooperation with residents, study problems raised in citizens’ appeals and identify ways to address them. Particular attention is to be given to strengthening public trust in the internal affairs authorities.

Heads of district and city internal affairs departments have been tasked with addressing, on a targeted basis, factors contributing to crime and improving the effectiveness of their work in each mahalla.

Inokov replaces Timur Ismailov as head of the Surkhandarya regional Internal Affairs Department.

Ismailov was previously appointed first deputy interior minister of Uzbekistan and head of the Department of Public Security.
