Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Bukhara on 24 August to attend events on the second day of the Uzbek-Azerbaijani summit and visited the mausoleum of Bahauddin Naqshband, the Uzbek presidential press service said. During the visit, Quranic verses were recited and prayers were offered for peace and prosperity for the people of Uzbekistan.

The Bahauddin Naqshband Memorial Complex is considered one of the significant holy sites of the Islamic world. It is located at the burial site of Bahauddin Naqshband, the founder of the Naqshbandiya tariqa.

The complex includes a mausoleum, khanqah, mosques, a necropolis and a museum of the history of Sufism.

The visit to the mausoleum was the Uzbek president’s first event under the program for the second day of the Uzbek-Azerbaijani summit in Bukhara.
