Mirziyoyev, Vieira Discuss Industry and Agriculture Projects
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks on 12 May with Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira, who arrived in Tashkent on an official visit. The parties discussed further development of bilateral cooperation and expansion of interaction in the economic and political spheres.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Brazilian foreign minister conveyed greetings and best wishes from Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to the Uzbek leader.
The talks focused on strengthening Uzbekistan-Brazil relations and advancing cooperation to a new level. The sides emphasized the importance of establishing systematic high-level dialogue and expanding inter-parliamentary and political contacts.
Mirziyoyev and Vieira separately reviewed prospects for increasing bilateral trade, intensifying business ties and implementing joint industrial projects. In particular, discussions covered cooperation in the chemical, electrical engineering and pharmaceutical industries.
The negotiations also highlighted opportunities to expand partnership in agriculture, breeding, tourism and sports. To advance joint initiatives in practical terms, the parties proposed establishing an intergovernmental commission.
In addition to bilateral issues, the sides exchanged views on current international matters and discussed the schedule of upcoming joint events.
