Mirziyoyev, US Senator Daines Discuss Strategic Ties

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received US Senator and Co-Chair of the Senate Central Asia Caucus Steve Daines on 3 September 2026 to discuss strengthening the strategic partnership and expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two nations.

At the beginning of the meeting, Daines congratulated Mirziyoyev and the people of Uzbekistan on the country's 35th anniversary of independence, wishing the republic peace, well-being, and prosperity.

The two sides noted the high level of bilateral cooperation achieved in recent years, as well as the dynamic pace of high-level contacts and delegation exchanges.

Special attention was given to expanding trade, economic, and investment ties. Joint commercial projects are currently being implemented across several sectors, including energy, critical minerals, transport, agriculture, digital technologies, and industry.

Mirziyoyev and Daines also discussed opportunities to advance interregional cooperation, specifically between Uzbekistan and the US state of Montana, which Daines represents in Congress.

Additionally, the sides exchanged views on regional interaction within the C5+1 diplomatic framework, along with key pressing issues on the international and regional agendas.
