Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan has appointed three senior officials to its newly established Ministry of Education and Science. Oybek Yuldashev has become first deputy minister, while Mehriniso Pardayeva and Sanjar Mirzaliyev have been appointed deputy ministers.
The appointments were made through presidential resolutions, the Ministry of Education and Science said.
Before his appointment, Yuldashev served as director of the public sector, infrastructure and environmental, social and governance (ESG) consulting practice at PwC Uzbekistan.
Pardayeva previously headed a department at the Republican Scientific and Methodological Centre for Education Development.
Mirzaliyev formerly served as executive director of the joint Belarusian-Uzbek Intersectoral Institute of Practical Technical Qualifications.
The new Ministry of Education and Science was established as part of reforms to the education system. Under Presidential Decree No. UP-213 dated October 3, 2026, the Ministry of Preschool and School Education and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation were merged into a single body.
As presidential press secretary Sherzod Asadov previously explained, the changes are intended to revise approaches to education management and clarify the division of responsibilities for organising the learning process and ensuring its quality.
The Ministry of Education and Science will oversee preschool institutions, schools, vocational education institutions and universities.
Its responsibilities will include ensuring the day-to-day operation of these institutions, setting requirements for educational activities, and conducting accreditation and licensing.
