Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Minister of Health Eldor Adilov and Kazakhstan’s Minister of Health Akmaral Alnazarova discussed promising areas for developing bilateral cooperation in healthcare in Avaza, the press service of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Health reported.
During the meeting, the sides noted the steady expansion of bilateral cooperation across various sectors, including healthcare. Cooperation in the medical field is already developing in the training and professional development of specialists, pharmaceuticals, primary healthcare, and maternal and child health.
Eldor Adilov proposed a number of initiatives aimed at making cooperation between the two countries more practical.
One proposal involved organising short-term internships for 100 doctors at leading medical institutions in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. The programmes are planned to cover oncology, neurosurgery, transplantology, cardiac surgery and paediatrics, as well as other medical specialities.
The sides also focused on developing primary healthcare and patronage services. The Uzbek side proposed strengthening cooperation between the two countries’ border regions, exploring ways to forecast demand for specific medicines, and considering the localisation of pharmaceutical production.
Specific action plans are to be prepared for each of the areas discussed.
“Our cooperation should be measured not by the number of meetings held or memorandums signed, but by concrete results,” Eldor Adilov said.
Akmaral Alnazarova, in turn, stressed the importance of further strengthening ties between medical institutions in border regions and continuing the mutual exchange of experience.
Following the talks, the sides emphasised the need to develop a new action plan aimed at advancing practical healthcare cooperation over the coming years.
