Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A driver of a Malibu 2 in Bukhara reached 201 km/h on a road where the speed limit is 60 km/h.

Before setting off, he removed the vehicle’s state registration plates. The press service of the Bukhara Regional Road Safety Department reported the incident.

According to the department, the driver and a friend removed the plates and placed them inside the car. The passenger filmed the trip, and the video later circulated on social media.

Regional road safety officers identified the driver and located the vehicle. The man admitted to the violation and expressed regret over what had happened.

“My friend and I decided to drive around Bukhara. We removed the plates and put them inside the car. On a section where the speed limit is 60 km/h, I accelerated to 201 km/h. This will not happen again,” the driver said.

Administrative reports were filed against him under Part 4 of Article 128-3 of Uzbekistan’s Code of Administrative Responsibility, which covers exceeding the established speed limit, and Part 5 of Article 125, concerning violations of vehicle operating rules. The car was taken to an impound lot.

According to the information provided, exceeding the speed limit by this amount carries a fine of up to 15 basic calculation units (BCUs), while driving a vehicle with its state registration plates removed carries a fine of five BCUs.
