Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and discussed the development of bilateral relations, the Uzbek presidential press service said.

At the beginning of the conversation, Mirziyoyev congratulated his Kazakh counterpart on the successful conduct of the country’s first elections to a unicameral Kurultai.

Mirziyoyev expressed confidence that the new Kurultai would become an important factor in advancing reforms in Kazakhstan, provide effective legislative support for large-scale transformations and give fresh impetus to the country’s sustainable development.

During the conversation, the presidents noted the dynamic development of Uzbek-Kazakh relations based on strategic partnership and alliance.

Particular attention was paid to further expanding bilateral trade, increasing industrial cooperation and implementing joint investment projects.

The heads of state also discussed the development of transport and logistics ties and the creation of new opportunities to intensify business contacts between regions of the two countries.

At the end of the conversation, Mirziyoyev and Tokayev exchanged views on current regional and international issues.
