Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko delivered statements to the media following their talks in Minsk. The Head of Uzbekistan thanked the Belarusian side for the warm welcome and congratulated the people of Belarus on their recent Independence Day.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that the official visit to Minsk became a historic event in the development of Uzbek-Belarusian relations. One of the key outcomes of the negotiations was the signing of the Declaration on the Establishment of Strategic Partnership Relations.

According to the President of Uzbekistan, this document opens a new chapter in interstate interaction and confirms the commitment of both sides to the long-term development of multifaceted cooperation.

The leaders emphasized that the successful negotiations were preceded by extensive preparatory work, including meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Business Council, political consultations, the third Forum of Regions, the Days of Culture of Uzbekistan, and meetings among analytical circles.

The parties confirmed their intention to develop political dialogue and strengthen inter-parliamentary cooperation. On the eve of the summit, a comprehensive plan was adopted, providing for measures to increase mutual trade to $2 billion and launch new joint projects.

Among the priority areas identified are agriculture, mechanical engineering, pharmaceuticals, electrical engineering, microelectronics, and the textile and furniture industries.

Separately, an agreement was reached on applying Belarusian experience during the implementation of the project for the first nuclear power plant and related infrastructure in Uzbekistan.

The results of the third Forum of Regions of Uzbekistan and Belarus, which was attended by about 230 Uzbek entrepreneurs, received high praise.

The leaders also reaffirmed their readiness to deepen interaction within the UN, CIS, SCO, and the Non-Aligned Movement, as well as to continue active exchanges in the fields of culture, education, healthcare, and tourism.

In conclusion, Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that the results of the current visit will contribute to the further strengthening of the strategic partnership and the sustainable development of both countries.
