Large Drug Transit Operation Foiled in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Officers of the State Security Service, in cooperation with customs authorities, have intercepted the transit of a large consignment of narcotics imported into Uzbekistan from Thailand. The operation was conducted as part of the second stage of the "Safe and Healthy Country" republican operational and preventive measures.
According to law enforcement agencies, the operational activity took place in the Chilonzor District of Tashkent. During the inspection of a sports bag belonging to a citizen of Kazakhstan born in 2004, narcotics disguised as sweets and other food products were discovered.
According to preliminary investigative data, the seized substance consists of hashish oil with a total weight of approximately 11 kilograms. It was confiscated and registered as physical evidence.
According to investigators, the narcotics were brought from Thailand and were intended for subsequent delivery to the territory of Kazakhstan.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding this matter, and investigative actions are underway.
The State Security Service urged citizens to report facts of illegal drug trafficking using the short number 1520, emphasizing that the confidentiality of the caller's identity is guaranteed.
