Mirziyoyev awards Dustlik Order to head of ICESCO
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Salim Al-Malik, Director-General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), who arrived in the country to participate in the first International Forum of Islamic Civilization.
During the meeting, the parties reviewed matters concerning the further expansion of multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and ICESCO. The President noted the progressive development of practical interaction with this international organization, which operates within the framework of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
It was noted that an ICESCO chair operates under the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan, and an office of the organization opened in Tashkent this year. Furthermore, following the February meeting of the Islamic World Heritage Committee, seven tangible and intangible cultural heritage sites of Uzbekistan were included in the ICESCO List.
The meeting participants paid special attention to the restoration, protection, and digitalization of cultural monuments and manuscripts, the promotion of Uzbekistan's historical heritage through international media platforms, and the organization of joint events.
Following the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev awarded Salim Al-Malik the "Dustlik" (Friendship) Order in recognition of his personal contribution to popularizing the rich cultural heritage of Uzbekistan at the international level.
