Mirziyoyev Approves Farm Machinery Modernization Plan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on 13 March signed a resolution aimed at large-scale technical modernization of Uzbekistan’s agricultural sector.

The document предусматривает привлечение рекордного объема инвестиций для оснащения фермерских хозяйств современной сельскохозяйственной техникой и агрегатами.

A key objective of the new strategy is to significantly increase the level of mechanization. According to the plan, by the end of 2026 the share of machine-harvested cotton should reach 70%, which is expected to reduce labor costs and improve harvest efficiency.

To implement the program, the government will facilitate the attraction of foreign credit lines totaling up to US$400 million under a state guarantee. The funds will be channeled through commercial banks for the purchase of the necessary machinery.

Loan conditions for farmers предусматривают срок до десяти лет, льготный период два года и процентную ставку в национальной валюте, рассчитанную как основная ставка Центрального банка плюс банковская маржа в размере 4%.

Special attention has been given to the repayment schedule for grain and cotton harvesters. Payments will be made twice a year — on 31 January and 31 July — taking into account the seasonal income of farmers, which will help reduce financial pressure during peak fieldwork periods.
