Uzbek Delegation Visits Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A government delegation of Uzbekistan led by Deputy Prime Minister Achilbay Ramatov paid a working visit to the Russian Federation.
During the trip to Russia’s Voronezh Region, the Uzbek delegation held a series of meetings with Governor Alexander Gusev, representatives of the regional administration and executives from Russia’s nuclear industry. The discussions focused on studying the experience of cooperation between regional authorities and nuclear industry enterprises.
The central event of the visit was a tour of the Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant. Delegation members held talks with Alexander Shutikov, Director General of JSC Rosenergoatom Concern, and Vladimir Povarov, Director of the nuclear power plant.
The Uzbek representatives were briefed on the operation of modern Generation III+ power units, advanced multi-level safety systems and key technological processes at the facility. In addition to the industrial site, the delegation reviewed the infrastructure of the plant’s satellite city, examining its integration with social, educational and sports facilities and overall quality of life.
The visit concluded with a working meeting in Moscow between the Uzbek delegation and Andrey Petrov, First Deputy Director General of State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom and President of JSC Atomstroyexport.
During the meeting, the parties reviewed the current status and long-term plans for the construction of a nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan. To strengthen project oversight, they agreed to launch monthly operational coordination meetings to be held directly at the future construction site in Uzbekistan.
