Ministry of Internal Affairs and Chamber of Advocates sign memorandum of cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan and the Chamber of Advocates of the Republic of Uzbekistan have signed a memorandum of cooperation aimed at enhancing interaction in preventing corruption, improving law enforcement practices, and strengthening the rule of law.

The signing ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Rustam Mirzayev, the Chairman of the Chamber of Advocates, Shukhrat Sadikov, as well as representatives from both organizations and members of the media.

During the event, it was noted that a modern system for preventing corruption must focus not only on identifying offenses that have already been committed, but primarily on eliminating the root causes and conditions that enable them to arise. It was emphasized that effectively addressing this task requires the active participation of a professional community possessing practical experience in applying legislation.

In accordance with the memorandum, the parties will establish a permanent platform for professional interaction. Within this framework, they plan to jointly analyze law enforcement practices, identify systemic causes of corruption risks, formulate proposals for their elimination, discuss initiatives to improve legislation, hold joint seminars, training events, and scientific-practical conferences, and exchange professional experience.

Special attention will be dedicated to ensuring the rule of law, respecting human rights and freedoms, enhancing the legal culture of internal affairs personnel, and developing unified approaches to preventing manifestations of corruption.

As noted during the ceremony, the signing of the memorandum is intended to strengthen cooperation between the state body and the independent professional community, increase transparency in the activities of internal affairs bodies, and facilitate the adoption of more effective organizational and legal decisions.

The implementation of the agreement will be carried out in compliance with legislative requirements, as well as the powers and independence of each party. The ultimate goal of this cooperation is defined as strengthening the rule of law, increasing the effectiveness of corruption prevention, protecting the rights and legitimate interests of citizens, and reinforcing public trust in both the internal affairs bodies and the institution of the advocacy.
