Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan Study Joint Venture to Make Matches

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Kyrgyzstan's Trade Representation under the Ministry of Economy and Commerce is exploring the possibility of establishing a joint venture with Uzbek company MILLENIUM LIGHT to produce matches.

The plans were discussed during a working meeting between trade representation officials and the company's management.

During a visit to the production site, the Kyrgyz side reviewed the company's production capacity, manufacturing process and output volumes.

The sides also discussed the company's compliance with international quality standards and its export capabilities.

The sides agreed to examine in detail the establishment of a joint venture in Kyrgyzstan. They also plan to study mechanisms and logistics routes for arranging direct supplies of match products from Uzbekistan to the Kyrgyz market.

Kyrgyz Trade Representative Bakai Akbaraliev said the project could reduce logistics costs, supply the domestic market with matches, and contribute to the country's industrial development, attract foreign direct investment and create new jobs.

MILLENIUM LIGHT's management expressed interest in entering the Kyrgyz market.

The Uzbek side also confirmed its readiness to consider the joint venture project and begin exchanging production and economic information to assess its prospects and economic viability.
