Korean and Uzbek specialists discuss smart technologies and digitalization in agriculture
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Head of the "Agrospace Technologies Implementation" department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Bobomurod Maksudov, held a meeting with representatives of the Korea Rural Community Corporation (KRC) in Uzbekistan, headed by Yang Chongryol.
During the meeting, Director of the Institute, Shukhrat Bobomurodov, presented detailed information on Uzbekistan’s soils, the institute's scientific activities, and soil types. He discussed applied research aimed at improving soil fertility and the implementation of digital technologies for soil analysis, such as remote sensing and geographic information systems (GIS) programs.
Bobomurodov emphasized the importance of integrating smart technologies, such as "smart fertilization," based on the results of scientific research. He pointed out that the institute provides high-quality operational services for landowners, offering current information on soil conditions.
Special attention was given to the institute's new project — the creation of an "Soil Database" electronic system that will allow each landowner to access comprehensive data on the status of their land plots.
Yang Chongryol, the representative of the Korea Rural Community Corporation in Uzbekistan, shared information about the existing "Soil Database" in Korea, which provides landowners with accurate information on soil conditions, and discussed Korea’s current achievements in agriculture.
He mentioned that in a country with limited land (agricultural land accounts for about 3 million hectares), efforts are underway to expand agricultural land by utilizing sands from coastal areas. This requires significant scientific effort and responsibility.
Regarding irrigation, Yang Chongryol explained that Korea uses rainwater reservoirs for irrigating agricultural land, noting that the country experiences high levels of precipitation, and salinization of water is not a problem.
During the negotiations, the Korean side proposed expanding cooperation with Uzbekistan in the areas of scientific research, data exchange, providing soil services to land users, and implementing advanced technologies in agriculture.
At the end of the meeting, the delegation visited the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) laboratory at the institute and got acquainted with the equipment of the "Analytical Testing Laboratory" and the "Mobile Laboratory."
