Kazakhstan submits draft resolution of Intl Day for Peace, Free from Nuclear Weapons

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Kazakhstan submitted a draft resolution “International Day for Peace and Free from Nuclear Weapons” to the First Committee of the UN General Assembly. The resolution proposes to announce 29 August as the International Day for Peace and Free from Nuclear Weapon.

Kazakhstan believes that such step will promote better knowledge of the society on issues of nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation.

The draft resolution said it is necessary to make efforts to prevent nuclear wars and catastrophes to prevent devastating consequences for humanity, environment and planet.

The resolution was developed by Kazakhstan and Belarus, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and other 10 countries acted as co-authors.
