Interior Ministry comments on arrest of Instagram blogger Gonza G

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Public Safety Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan issued an official statement regarding the active social media discussion surrounding the detention of citizen G. A., the content creator for the popular Instagram channel Gonza G.

The law enforcement agency emphasized that, prompted by the offender himself, inaccurate information regarding the circumstances of the incident and the charges brought against him is being circulated on the internet.

According to investigation materials, on 13 June 2026, during a mass festival, G. A. conducted aggressive and provocative video filming directly inside a crowd of visitors, which is confirmed by witness and victim testimony.

One of the festival attendees approached the blogger with a lawful request to stop filming him, but the channel author ignored the request and continued recording, responding to the citizen with profanity. By provoking a conflict, the offender forced the victim to seek assistance from internal affairs and National Guard officers on duty at the event.

When authorities attempted to suppress the unlawful actions, G. A. caused a public scandal and categorically refused to comply with their lawful demands, which was recorded by law enforcement officers in accordance with established procedures.

Later, internal affairs organs received an official statement from the participant in the conflict, as well as another complaint from another citizen who demanded the blogger be held accountable for the illegal distribution of his personal data on the internet. The court hearing for this administrative case took place on 20 June of this year.

The court thoroughly examined the presented materials and heard testimony from the accused, witnesses, and victims. Following the review, citizen G. A. was found guilty of committing offenses under Article 183 (Small hooliganism), Part 1 of Article 194 (Failure to comply with the lawful demands of an internal affairs officer), and Part 1 of Article 46-2 (Violation of legislation on personal data) of the Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Administrative Responsibility.

Based on Article 34 of the Code on Administrative Responsibility of the Republic of Uzbekistan, through the absorption of a less severe punishment by a more severe one or a full or partial combination of penalties, the blogger was handed a final punishment in the form of an administrative arrest for a term of 5 days, and monetary fines were imposed totaling 12 base calculating quantities (BCQ).

Immediately after the announcement of the court verdict, the offender G. A. was taken into custody directly in the courtroom to serve the court-appointed punishment.
