Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Indian tourists will be able to pay for purchases in Uzbekistan using familiar mobile applications that support the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), by scanning QR codes through the country’s national UZQR payment system.
Representatives of Uzbekistan’s national payment system HUMO and NPCI International discussed practical steps to launch the project at the Global Fintech Fest 2026 in Mumbai, HUMO said.
The initiative implements a cross-border QR payment agreement signed by the two parties on 27 August 2026. UZQR is Uzbekistan’s unified national QR payment system.
The partnership with India complements HUMO’s other international QR payment projects, including its collaboration with Alipay+. This allows users of international digital wallets and banking applications to pay for purchases in Uzbekistan through UZQR.
According to HUMO, the development of such solutions forms part of its strategy to integrate Uzbekistan’s national payment infrastructure into the global digital economy.
International partnerships expand cashless payment options, make transactions more convenient for foreign visitors and provide local businesses with additional payment tools.
