Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The total assets of Uzbekistan’s banking system reached 1,044.8 trillion soums as of 1 October 2026, marking a 21% increase year on year.

Loans grew by 13% to 659.1 trillion soums, while banks’ total capital rose by 17% to 152.9 trillion soums, according to the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.

Deposits recorded the fastest growth. Their total volume increased by 129.6 trillion soums, or 35%, over the year to reach 501 trillion soums. The Central Bank said the figures reflected an expansion in both lending and deposits attracted by the banking system.

The share of foreign currency in the banking system’s key indicators declined over the year. Its share of total bank assets fell from 38% to 34%, while the share in loans decreased from 39% to 38% and in deposits from 23% to 19%. According to the Central Bank, this indicates a growing share of the national currency in banks’ assets, loans and deposits.

In absolute terms, foreign-currency assets increased from 332.9 trillion to 352.7 trillion soums, but grew more slowly than total assets. Foreign-currency loans rose from 228.7 trillion to 252.3 trillion soums, while foreign-currency deposits increased from 83.7 trillion to 93.1 trillion soums.

As of 1 October 2025, the banking system’s assets had stood at 866.8 trillion soums, loans at 582.2 trillion soums, deposits at 371.5 trillion soums and capital at 130.4 trillion soums.
