IEA expects Russian gas supplies to Uzbekistan to exceed 10 bcm in 2026

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The International Energy Agency (IEA) expects supplies of Russian gas to Uzbekistan through the Central Asia-Center pipeline system to increase to more than 10 billion cubic meters in 2026.

According to the IEA gas market report, supplies of Russian gas to Uzbekistan through Kazakhstan will continue to grow. The agency forecasts that supply volumes will increase from 7 billion cubic meters in 2025 to just over 10 billion cubic meters in 2026.

Gazprom previously reported that it increased gas supply volumes to Uzbekistan by 15% to 6.5 billion cubic meters by the end of 2025.

Uzbekistan and Gazprom concluded a gas supply agreement in June 2023, and actual deliveries began in October of the same year. In October 2025, the Russian side reported the ongoing implementation of the contract to supply 7.7 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year to Uzbekistan, noting that capacity exists for further volume increases.

Additionally, in June 2024, Gazprom signed gas supply agreements with Kyrgyzstan, as well as transit agreements with Kazakhstan for the transport of Russian gas toward Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan for the 2025–2040 period.

It was previously reported that the government of Uzbekistan plans to modernize the country's main gas pipeline system to increase capacities for importing Russian gas from 9 million to 32 million cubic meters per day.
