Germany and Uzbekistan Discuss Investment and Workforce Development

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Business Forum “Days of the German Economy in Uzbekistan” and the tenth meeting of the Uzbek-German Business Council were held in Tashkent on 18 May, where the sides discussed expanding economic cooperation, investment projects, and workforce development.

The events were attended by Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov, Knauf Group executive partner Uwe Knotzer, Eastern Committee of the German Economy Director Michael Harms, and German Ambassador to Uzbekistan Manfred Huterer. Officials presented their positions and outlined key areas for further cooperation.

Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Akram Aliev spoke during a session dedicated to the activities of German companies and moderated presentations by Uzbek business representatives at the Business Council meeting.

Special attention was given to the training of qualified personnel and human capital development. The discussions involved representatives of government agencies and organizations, including the State Tax Committee, the Agency for Professional Education, Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex, the Goethe Institute, as well as international and foreign companies such as CLAAS, Schneider Group, GIZ, Wilo, Messe Frankfurt, Bericap, telc, Petroline Holding, Motiba, Prosica, GP Günter Papenburg, and Askania Bildung.

The Business Council session, moderated by Michael Harms, focused on investment in key sectors including the automotive industry, information technology, geology, and manufacturing. Reports were presented by representatives of Uzavtosanoat, Volkswagen, IT Park, Schwarz Digits, Henkel, CLAAS, Control Union, telc, Ernst Klett Sprachen, Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex, Procab, Akfa Group, and New Uzbekistan University.

Following the event, the parties held bilateral negotiations aimed at further developing cooperation and implementing joint projects.
