Former French president Jacques Chirac dies at the age of 86

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Former French president Jacques Chirac has died at the age of 86, his family announced on Thursday.

"President Jacques Chirac passed away this morning among his own people. Peacefully", announced his son-in-law Frédéric Salat-Baroux, husband of Chirac’s daughter Claude.

Chirac served as French president between 1995 and 2007 as a member of the conservative UMP party.
