Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from the Ferghana region led by regional governor Khayrullo Bozorov held a series of meetings in Tokyo with representatives of Japanese companies, government institutions, and business circles to discuss the expansion of investment, technological, and economic cooperation between the regions.
During negotiations with companies operating in the fields of information technology and artificial intelligence, the sides discussed the introduction of advanced Japanese experience in developing the digital infrastructure of the Ferghana region.
Following the meetings, memorandums of cooperation were signed and agreements were reached on collaboration with Japanese IT and AI companies, the development of sectoral infrastructure, and the use of the region’s youth potential.
Special attention was given to the agricultural sector. During meetings with Tokyo Seika Trading Co., Ltd. and Toyo Trans Incorporation, the sides discussed projects related to the export of fruits and vegetables, as well as the development of processing, storage, and logistics chains. As a result, an agreement was signed to expand cooperation, with Japanese partners expressing strong interest in agricultural supplies from the Ferghana region.
Cooperation with Fujikura Kasei Co., Ltd. was also discussed. The company presented a project for the production of medical testing reagents in the Ferghana region. The sides also considered prospects for expanding cooperation in coatings, polymer materials, and medical products.
In addition, a meeting was held with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), where the parties discussed potential joint projects in transport, energy, education, ecology, and water management. Opportunities were noted for implementing “smart water management” projects, establishing a “green industrial park,” and launching a Ferghana–Japan vocational training center.
Separate talks were held with representatives of Chiba Prefecture, focusing on the development of interregional cooperation, including investment, industrial collaboration, IT and engineering workforce training, and tourism programs.
The sides also proposed organizing a visit of a delegation from Chiba Prefecture to the Ferghana region for further development of joint initiatives.
