FAO Expands Agricultural Cooperation in Namangan Region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A new phase of cooperation between the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Uzbekistan’s Namangan region has been outlined following discussions between regional governor Shavkatjon Abdurazzakov and an FAO delegation.

The delegation included Yurdi Yasmi, Director of the Plant Production and Protection Division at FAO headquarters, Assistant FAO Representative in Uzbekistan Sherzod Umarov, and other officials from the organization.

The parties discussed prospects for further agricultural development in the region, the introduction of modern agricultural technologies, and improvements to plant protection systems. Special attention was given to supporting farming enterprises and enhancing the effectiveness of ongoing FAO-led projects.

The talks also focused on food security, increasing the export potential of agricultural products, and expanding the application of international best practices in the agricultural sector.

Following the meeting, the participants identified key areas for future cooperation aimed at strengthening the agricultural capacity of Namangan region and developing new joint initiatives.
