EU Launches 11th Phase of BOMCA Border Management Program in Central Asia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The 11th phase of the European Union’s Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA) has been officially launched in Bishkek.

The opening ceremony brought together representatives of government bodies, law enforcement agencies, international organizations, and the European Union from five Central Asian countries — Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

A delegation led by U. Pirmukhamedova, advisor to the Chairman of the Customs Committee, also participated in the opening ceremony and accompanying conference.

The program aims to strengthen cross-border cooperation, combat organized crime, improve risk analysis in customs operations, and enhance living conditions in border regions.

Special attention within the project is given to promoting human rights principles and gender equality.

BOMCA has been implemented since 2003 and is considered one of the key platforms for fostering cooperation between Central Asian countries, as well as strengthening regional security and stability.
