Chinese Companies Explore Investment in Uzbekistan Construction, Textiles

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Diplomats from the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Shanghai held talks in the city of Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, with the leadership of Chinese companies Zicheng United Construction Group Co., Ltd. and Jiaxing Houbang Import and Export Co., Ltd., according to the Dunyo news agency.

During the meetings, the Chinese partners were briefed on Uzbekistan’s favorable investment climate, existing incentives for foreign investors, as well as its developed infrastructure and business opportunities.

Following the talks, the head of the major engineering and construction group Zicheng United, Jiang Guohua, expressed interest in opening a branch of the company in Uzbekistan. He also confirmed plans to visit the country in June–July this year for further project discussions.

Meanwhile, the head of Jiaxing Houbang, a company specializing in international textile trade and ready-made garments, Xu Wei, noted ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan’s light industry and expressed readiness to consider implementing a project to build a textile enterprise in the country.

The parties also agreed to organize a practical visit of Chinese entrepreneurs to Uzbekistan during the current year to study investment opportunities and prepare concrete proposals.
