Chikungunya Fever Poses No Threat to Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Chikungunya fever, cases of which have been reported in China, does not pose a threat to epidemiological stability in Uzbekistan, the press service of the Committee on Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health announced.

The agency stressed that the disease’s carriers — Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes — are not found in natural conditions within the country.

“The Committee on Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health is implementing systematic measures to ensure epidemiological stability in our country,” the statement said.
