Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan Deputy Foreign Minister Mirvohid Azimov held a meeting on 14 August with Roberto Manalo, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Philippines to Uzbekistan, whose residence is in Tehran.
The sides discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation, strengthening political dialogue and expanding trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties, Uzbekistan’s Foreign Ministry press service reported.
The Philippine side confirmed its interest in consistently developing mutually beneficial relations with Uzbekistan.
The sides noted potential for expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation. Agriculture, the chemical and food industries, and tourism were identified as priority areas.
They also discussed the possibility of establishing direct links between the chambers of commerce and industry of the two countries.
The participants considered prospects for increasing tourist exchanges and developing transport connectivity.
In particular, the sides discussed the possibility of launching direct air service between Uzbekistan and the Philippines. They also considered organising reciprocal familiarisation trips for representatives of the tourism industry.
Following the meeting, the sides confirmed their readiness to continue joint efforts to further develop Uzbekistan-Philippines relations and implement specific mutually beneficial projects.
