Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- Belarus has become a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). The documents were signed in Astana during the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of SCO member states.

Thus, Belarus joins SCO as the tenth full member, alongside India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

Since 2010, Belarus has participated in SCO as a dialogue partner, and since 2015, as an observer.

At the meeting of the Council of Heads of State in Samarkand on 16 September 2022, a decision was made to initiate Belarus’ accession process to SCO, allowing it to join more than 40 SCO organization agreements.
