Australian Open: Istomin reaches second round, Amanmuradove out

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Denis Istomin from Uzbekistan reached the second round of Australian Open on Tuesday, 19 January 2010.

Istomin played against France’s Jeremy Chardy, who was seeded under number 32 in the tournament. Uzbek number one cruised past Chardy in straight sets 6/2, 6/2 and 6/0.

Denis Istomin will face Michael Berrer of Germany after he outplayed Kristof Vliegen of Belgium with the score 6/1, 6/2 and 6/1.

In women’s draw, Akgul Amanmuradova crushed out from the first round after she lost to Germany’s Kristina Barrois in straight sets 0/6 and 6/7 (6/8).
