Andijan Region and China to Launch Joint Projects Worth Millions

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Hokim (Governor) of the Andijan region, Shuhratbek Abdurrahmanov, held an official meeting in the city of Bobur with a delegation from the China Industrial Energy Conservation and Clean Production Association, led by one of the organization's leaders, Liu Mingzhi.

The sides focused primarily on improving energy efficiency, deepening industrial cooperation, modernizing municipal infrastructure, and introducing innovative approaches to the agricultural sector. Following the negotiations, firm agreements were reached on the implementation of a package of joint investment projects.

As part of the industrial dialogue, the parties discussed a detailed project to organize the production of high-tech water pumps and specialized fire trucks within the Andijan region. This initiative involves the deep localization of modern pumping equipment manufacturing and its subsequent integration into specialized vehicles. The project will be implemented through production cooperation with the prominent Chinese automakers FAW Trucks. Furthermore, the partners agreed to launch programs aimed at reducing energy consumption in the region's industrial, residential, and communal sectors through the introduction of advanced energy-saving technologies.

A significant portion of the investment agenda was dedicated to modernizing life-support systems through public-private partnership (PPP) mechanisms. The Chinese delegation was presented with a comprehensive reconstruction and modernization project for the "RK-1" central heating plant in the city of Andijan, valued at US$16.3 million. Successful technological upgrading of this facility will expand centralized heating coverage and ensure uninterrupted heat supply to thousands of residential homes and social institutions.

Special attention during the talks was also paid to the agro-industrial complex. The foreign partners and the regional leadership agreed to launch joint agricultural projects based on rigorous scientific approaches, resource-saving methods, and innovative technologies aimed at significantly increasing crop yields.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties reaffirmed their intention to maximize interaction in order to attract foreign direct investment and establish new high-tech production capacities in the region.
