Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan business forum was held in Tashkent with the participation of representatives from more than 110 large and medium-sized private companies from Kazakhstan. The event was organised as part of efforts to implement instructions from the presidents of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan to increase bilateral trade to US$10 billion.

Participants said the next stage in the development of bilateral economic cooperation should focus on deepening industrial cooperation and establishing joint production of high value-added products.

Kazakhstan's National Chamber of Entrepreneurs Atameken proposed focusing joint efforts on three key areas.

These include ensuring transparent access for enterprises to raw materials and expanding industrial cooperation, digitalising transport and logistics infrastructure and foreign trade procedures, as well as increasing mutual investment, launching joint production projects and localising businesses.

The Kazakh side also proposed creating a permanent expert working group and developing a joint roadmap to harmonise tariff, raw material and customs mechanisms.

A practical outcome of the forum was the signing of a cooperation memorandum between Uzbek company Glasfit Energy and Kazakhstan Armature Insulator Plant LLP.

Following the forum, B2B negotiations were held, during which business representatives from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan discussed prospects for implementing joint projects, finding new partners and expanding direct business ties.
