Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Ministry of Culture has announced the appointment of a new director for the Alisher Navoi State Academic Bolshoi Theatre during a meeting chaired by Minister Ozodbek Nazarbekov.
The position has been assumed by Alibek Kabdurakhmanov, chief conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra, the Ministry’s press service reported.
He succeeds People’s Artist of Uzbekistan Ramiz Usmanov, who had led the theatre since 2021 and was relieved of his duties in connection with his transition to a new role.
Alibek Kabdurakhmanov was born in Tashkent in 1984. In 2006, he graduated from the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan, completing both undergraduate and master’s programs.
He began his career as a percussionist with the National Symphony Orchestra before moving on to conduct and perform with the Omnibus Ensemble.
Kabdurakhmanov is a laureate of international awards and a participant in prestigious festivals. In August 2024, he was awarded the honorary title of Merited Artist of Uzbekistan.
