Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Joint command-and-staff exercises to address the aftermath of an earthquake and ensure public safety were held in Uzbekistan’s Kashkadarya Region from 28 to 30 October 2026.
The exercises involved the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and other relevant organisations.
Participants practised how agencies should respond to a major earthquake, including organising emergency assistance for those affected, protecting lives and health, and coordinating the work of responsible institutions.
Specialists from the regional department of the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health also practised measures to ensure sanitary safety in an emergency zone.
In particular, the exercises covered monitoring the quality of drinking water and food, ensuring compliance with sanitary and hygiene requirements at temporary accommodation centres, preventing infectious diseases and carrying out disinfection when necessary.
According to the committee’s press service, such exercises are aimed at improving the preparedness of relevant agencies for sanitary and epidemiological threats and strengthening inter-agency cooperation during emergencies.
