Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A delegation from the Legislative Chamber of Uzbekistan’s Oliy Majlis, led by Speaker Nuriddin Ismoilov, is visiting the Sultanate of Oman.

During the visit, the delegation met with Khalid Al Maawali, chairman of Oman’s Consultative Council, to discuss prospects for developing interparliamentary cooperation.

The sides noted that Uzbekistan–Oman relations have been developing amid the open and pragmatic foreign policies pursued by the leadership of both countries, with the two states establishing close partnership ties.

Ismoilov briefed the Omani side on reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan under President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. He also outlined the work of the Legislative Chamber, its legislative initiatives and parliamentary oversight, as well as measures to strengthen cooperation between the two countries’ legislative bodies.

Al Maawali, in turn, highlighted the scale of the transformations underway in Uzbekistan. He recalled participating in the 150th anniversary assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, held in Tashkent last year, and said the country’s reforms had made a strong impression on him.

Particular attention was given to opportunities to intensify contacts between the parliaments. Discussions covered exchanges of experience between relevant legislative committees, further development of interparliamentary dialogue and the implementation of joint projects.

The sides also exchanged views on prospects for expanding cooperation and strengthening engagement in areas of mutual interest.

The visit by Uzbekistan’s parliamentary delegation to Oman is continuing.
