Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A business forum involving private sector representatives from Afghanistan and Uzbekistan was held in Kabul, resulting in the signing of 13 investment and trade agreements worth more than US$100 million, according to the Afghan Ministry of Industry and Commerce.

The conference brought together entrepreneurs, business associations, and officials from both countries. The main focus was on expanding bilateral economic cooperation, increasing mutual trade volumes, and identifying new investment opportunities.

Afghanistan’s Minister of Industry and Commerce Nuriddin Azizi said economic relations between Kabul and Tashkent have intensified in recent months.

He said the Afghan side is continuing efforts to strengthen regional trade ties and create more favorable conditions for investors.

Azizi noted that Afghanistan has significant investment potential due to its labor resources and expanding opportunities across various sectors of the economy. He also emphasized the country’s readiness to establish joint ventures with foreign partners.

According to the Afghan ministry, foreign investment inflows in the concluded 1404 Afghan calendar year, which ended on 20 March 2026, totaled around US$2 billion. The ministry said this reflects growing international business interest in Afghanistan’s economy.

The Uzbek delegation at the forum was led by Amanbay Orynbayev, Chairman of the Parliament of Karakalpakstan and Deputy Chairman of the Senate of Uzbekistan.

Uzbek representatives confirmed their interest in further expanding economic cooperation with Afghanistan and described the newly signed agreements as an important step in strengthening regional collaboration.

Orynbayev urged Afghan entrepreneurs to make greater use of joint investment mechanisms to access new regional markets.

Forum participants also reported that the total value of agreements concluded between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan has already exceeded US$1.5 billion.

The implementation of the new deals is expected to increase trade turnover and support broader economic growth in the region.
