ADB to Finance US$12 Billion Uzbekistan Development Plan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Asian Development Bank has signed a new cooperation program with Uzbekistan worth US$12 billion during the Samarkand summit, with funds allocated to the implementation of 78 projects aimed at infrastructure development and improving living standards.
One of the key priorities of the program is the energy sector. The agreement includes plans to commission more than 2,000 MW of new renewable energy capacity and modernize over 1,000 kilometers of power transmission lines.
The projects are expected to ensure stable electricity supply for more than 4 million people.
A significant portion of the funding will also be directed toward social infrastructure. The Asian Development Bank plans to allocate around US$2 billion for the construction of new schools and healthcare facilities.
Uzbek authorities view cooperation with international financial institutions as an important tool for accelerating economic development and modernizing key sectors of the economy.
The new ADB program covers projects aimed at improving public services and further developing the country’s infrastructure.
Officials emphasized that attracting investment and expanding partnerships with international financial organizations create additional opportunities for large-scale social and economic initiatives in Uzbekistan.
