Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Representatives of the Asian Development Bank, led by Eduardo Banzon, reviewed reforms underway in Uzbekistan's pharmaceutical industry.
The meeting was held with Abdulla Azizov, director of the Agency for the Development of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry, the agency said.
During the talks, the agency presented the ADB delegation with information on measures to develop the country's pharmaceutical ecosystem, prospective projects and its main areas of activity.
Particular attention was paid to improving the quality of pharmaceutical products and developing the industry's scientific and educational infrastructure.
One of the key topics was Uzbekistan's accession process to the Pharmaceutical Inspection Co-operation Scheme (PIC/S). The sides discussed preparations for accession, the improvement of the inspection system in line with international requirements and opportunities for cooperation in this area.
ADB representatives positively assessed the transformations underway in Uzbekistan's pharmaceutical sector and expressed readiness to participate in implementing prospective joint initiatives.
Following the meeting, the sides stressed the importance of further expanding cooperation and exchanging experience in the pharmaceutical industry, as well as strengthening Uzbekistan's potential as a regional pharmaceutical hub.
