Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Oman’s Voltamp Energy plans to develop high-voltage transformer manufacturing and solar power projects in Uzbekistan, viewing the country as a base for expanding into other Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) markets.
The plans were discussed at a meeting between Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Voltamp Energy Chairman Sayyid Aiman Al Busaidi.
The talks took place on the sidelines of the first meeting of the Investors Council for the fuel and energy sector. The parties discussed prospects for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation and agreed to implement Voltamp Energy’s ongoing and new projects under a dedicated roadmap.
Speaking to O‘zbekiston 24 television, Al Busaidi said the Investors Council meeting had opened up additional opportunities for the company. He added that ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan had increased Voltamp Energy’s interest in participating in the country’s energy projects.
“Our company has drawn up a clear plan for future operations in Uzbekistan and the CIS countries. Meeting with Shavkat Mirziyoyev gave me an opportunity to discuss our plans,” the company chairman said.
During the talks, Al Busaidi also asked the president to support the introduction of new technologies, the professional development of specialists and the expansion of related services.
Mirziyoyev supported the proposed initiatives and instructed the relevant agencies to finalise the agreements, accelerate the implementation of programmes and ensure the necessary conditions for investors.
Al Busaidi described the meeting as a significant boost to Voltamp Energy’s plans in Tashkent and other regions of Uzbekistan, as well as its longer-term ambitions to expand into markets across the CIS. He also expressed his appreciation for the organisation of the talks.
