Uzhydromet warns of mudslide risks in four regions

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Center for Hydrometeorological Services of Uzbekistan (Uzhydromet) has issued an emergency alert warning of a high probability of mudslides and flash floods in selected mountainous and foothill areas of the Tashkent, Namangan, Fergana, and Andijan regions from 8 to 13 July 2026 due to anticipated rainfall.

According to the hydrometeorological service, the risk of mudflows in the Tashkent region is concentrated in the Akhangaran, Bostanlyk, Parkent, Pskent, Urta Chirchiq, and Yuqori Chirchiq districts, as well as the cities of Angren and Almalyk.

In the Namangan region, the warning covers the Pap, Kasansay, Chartak, Chust, Namangan, and Yangikurgan districts.

In the Ferghana region, mudslide events are possible in the Sokh, Shakhimardan, Fergana, and Besharyk districts.

In the Andijan region, the high-risk zones include the Andijan, Asaka, Jalaquduq, Qorgontepa, Pakhtaabad, Izboskan, Khojaabad, and Marhamat districts, alongside the city of Khanabad.

Uzhydromet strongly urges residents of these mountainous and foothill areas, holidaymakers, and drivers traveling through alpine terrains to observe maximum precautionary measures.

The agency also cautioned that the expected heavy downpours could lead to severe rainwater accumulation, triggering localized flooding in low-lying territories.
